The Weight We Carry Together: Reflections from Y-Fit’s Founder

The Weight We Carry Together: Reflections from Y-Fit’s Founder

Y-Fit Wear

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what it means to build something that touches people’s lives in such an intimate way.

I come online everyday and see people wearing Y-Fit. It's a very humbling experience to see how people resonate and fill close to the brand.

The Intimacy of Health & Trust

Health is one of the most personal, vulnerable things we carry. It’s wrapped up in how we see ourselves, how we move through the world, and how we show up for the people we love. When someone struggles with their fitness journey, it’s rarely just about the workouts. It’s about the voice in their head that says they’re not strong enough, not disciplined enough, not worthy of the body they want.

When you choose Y-Fit, you’re inviting us into that intimate space. You’re trusting us to be part of your early mornings, your frustrations, your small victories that no one else sees. You’re trusting that we understand what it feels like to start over, to doubt yourself, to wonder if this time will be different.

That trust isn’t something I take lightly. Every decision we make, from the fabrics we choose to the way we talk about fitness, is filtered through this question: Does this honor the trust our community has placed in us?

Because you’re not just buying leggings or sports bras. You’re looking for something that makes you feel capable. Something that says, “You belong here. You’re strong enough for this.” And that’s sacred ground.

The Weight of Influence

There’s a double meaning I can’t stop thinking about: the weight of influence.

On one hand, there’s the literal weight. The barbells you’re learning to lift, the resistance you’re pushing against, the physical load that’s making you stronger every single day. That weight is honest. It doesn’t lie. It challenges you and changes you.

But there’s another weight I carry as a founder: the weight of influence. The responsibility that comes with knowing my words, my brand, my vision shapes how thousands of people think about their bodies and their potential.

That weight has grown heavier as Y-Fit has grown. More people are watching, listening, trusting. And just like progressive overload in training, I’ve had to learn to handle that increasing weight with intention and care. Because influence, wielded carelessly, can hurt. It can create unrealistic standards, shame, or burnout.

So I think constantly about what we’re putting out into the world. Are we promoting sustainability or quick fixes? Are we celebrating all kinds of strength, or just one narrow definition? Are we making fitness feel accessible, or are we building walls that keep people out?

The truth is, you’re not just finding inspiration in Y-Fit. You’re finding permission. Permission to take up space, to start imperfectly, to believe that your health and strength matter. And I don’t take that for granted.

What This Means Going Forward

I’m grateful. Deeply, genuinely grateful that you’ve chosen to trust Y-Fit with something as precious as your health and fitness journey. This opportunity to impact lives, to be part of your transformation, it’s not lost on me.

As we continue to grow, my commitment is this: I will always remember the intimacy of what we’re doing here. I will carry the weight of influence with care. I will keep asking myself if we’re honoring your trust, your vulnerability, your belief that you deserve to feel strong and capable.

Because you do. And I’m honored to be part of your journey.

Thank you for letting Y-Fit be part of your story.

Kind Regards,

Mark Agyakwa - Y-Fit Wear Founder & Creative Director
